Supportive management for auto-immune disease
What is Autoimmune Disease
An auto-immune disease or condition is when our body encounters something foreign in its environment and it initiates an immune response against that substance to protect itself from potential harm. The problem is that the body may not recognize that the "foreign substance" is some part of self, with potential serious consequences effecting the individual's health.
Statistics - a major healthcare challenge
- According to recent studies, there are an estimated 23.5 million Americans effected by Autoimmune Diseases
- Research has identified 80-100 different autoimmune diseases and suspect at least 40 additional diseases of having an autoimmune basis
- Autoimmune diseases are chronic and can be life-threatening
Your risk for developing an autoimmune disease is partly due to your genetics. Studies indicate that 95% of risk is due to lifestyle choices, the food we eat, physical activity, and the environment we live in.
