Save Your Heart, Kick The Habit
When you're feeling stressed what do you do to unwind? Smoke a cigarette? Sure! Most people use this UNHEALTHY habit to feel more relaxed. This is not what you should be doing when you need to destress! Have you ever read what is on the package of cigarettes? Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy. Why put yourself at that risk and hurt your body?
Most people do not take into consideration that smoking can cause heart disease and strokes. The nicotine in cigarettes can cause your blood pressure and heart rate to increase. You are also losing oxygen throughout your body and you are more likely to get blood clots and get damaged blood vessels. So it is not just about the harm caused to one's lungs. It's the whole body! Every time you inhale there are about 250 harmful chemicals going into your body. 250! Can you imagine what your lungs looks like?
Now I know smoking extremely hard to give up because of how addictive it is. But the cost to your body is huge. It's time to take action and fight for your health. Make changes in your life that will help your future. If you want to quit smoking but don't know if you will be able to find support groups that will help you through this challenge. Make a list of all the risks and look at it everyday. Also, set a quit date and stick with it. This will hopefully motivate you to make the change.
